A reputable not-for-profit organisation with offices across Manchester and Liverpool is seeking an interim Category Manager to support with their senior level procurements for a period of circa 6 months, working on a part-time basis between 3 and 4 days per week.
Your new role
**To start in January 2026** As interim Category Manager, you will be responsible for carefully managing high-value spend within the building safety, maintenance and repairs categories on behalf of the organisation. This role will cover the full procurement lifecycle and offers a lot of variety, from working closely with key stakeholders to develop specifications, through to contract negotiations, framework call-offs, end-to-end tendering, and contract management – all whilst ensuringpliance with relevant legislation and delivering optimal value for money. This role will be responsible for the operational delivery within your category area, so you will 'roll your sleeves up' and be at the heart of the procurement process, whilst working closely with the Head of Procurement to ensure alignment with objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Proven background in delivering procurements in the public or not-for-profit sectors
2. Working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 (PCR2015 also considered)
3. Experience of operating at a senior procurement level in another public-sector organisation
4. Experience of working onplex, high-value tenders within the public sector
5. Ideally, you will bring relevant category experience in property maintenance, repairs, building safety or similar
6. Excellent stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills
7. Flexibility to work between 3 and 4 days per week, and able to travel to any business meetings when required
