Head of Commercial - Tech Services
Our client, an international tech business has won a £160 million technology development and deployment contract. As such they have created this brand new role, a position that will drive commercial strategy, people leadership and customer success.
Building on strong foundations, but with a start up feel, our client, a global leader in IT solutions for buses and trains, driving a revolution in making public transport more efficient, green and user-friendly. They’re in the midst of a multi-million-pound refurbishment of an office in the historic Lace Market area of Nottingham, which will house a team that you will build in the coming months.
Position Overview
The Head of Commercial is a pivotal role responsible for driving the financial performance and strategic commercial initiatives of the business. This position, which has the potential to evolve into a future board-level role, requires close collaboration with the Managing Director and Sales Director. It's an opportunity for strategic thinkers skilled in managing customer relationships and contracts, aiming to maximise business opportunities and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and requirements
* Lead the commercial function through all stages, from quotations and contracts to delivery and operations.
* Direct the commercial team, aligning their efforts with company goals and optimising financial outcomes.
* Support business development with strategic insights, risk evaluation, and accurate quotations. Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, manage customer relationships, and identify growth opportunities.
* Lead commercial risk management, including thorough review and negotiation of contracts.
* Proven experience in commercial management within an IT service environment, including handling multi-million pound contracts.
* Ensure all contract documents are thoroughly reviewed and executed prior to project commencement.
* Assist with the creation of tender documentation and contractual change notices.
* Provide leadership for the commercial team to maximise the potential of the team in line with company objectives.
* Ensure all commercial activities are carried out in compliance with procedures and external legislation governing business operations
* Manage the performance and success of the customer relationships and identify opportunities for growth.
* Have responsibility for commercial risk management through review procedures and contract negotiations in line with company policies and procedures.
* Strong team development, client relationship management, and market analysis skills.
* University degree or equivalent preferred, with excellent communication skills and a professional demeanour.

Salary & Package:
We can consider Commercial Managers, Leaders and Directors at all levels, we are totally open to ideas of experience levels. As such the salary banding for this role is from £70,000 upwards. For the first 6 months you will be required in the office full time, with flexible and hybrid working available thereafter. The position comes with bonus and incentives and a wide variety of perks. Some international travel will also be required to sites in Ireland and Germany.
