We’re looking for a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a welcoming Bristol primary school where inclusion, wellbeing, and teamwork are at the heart of daily life. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping one child access the curriculum, build confidence, and feel supported throughout the school day. What your role will involve • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs • Supporting classroom activities and adapting tasks so learning is accessible and engaging • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour • Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider support team • Helping the pupil participate fully in a broad and creative curriculum that encourages curiosity and exploration • Creating a calm, nurturing environment where the child feels safe and able to thrive The school places strong emphasis on resilience, respect, teamwork, and curiosity, helping pupils develop not just academically but socially and emotionally too. What we’re looking for You don’t need to have done this exact role before, but you’ll bring the right mindset and enthusiasm to support young learners. You’ll ideally have: • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN or additional needs • A calm, patient and supportive approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEND (desirable but not essential) Most importantly, you’ll care about helping children grow in confidence and achieve their potential.
