Summary
Rural Resources Community Action is seeking a dependable and safety-consciousTransit Driverto provide transportation services for individuals across scheduled destinations. This role involves operating specialized vehicles, assisting passengers with mobility needs, and maintaining a safe and efficient transit environment. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring compliance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol testing standards.
Salary Information
Our Transit Driver position is offered at $18.23 to $19.71 per hour. Actual wage will vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, experience and qualifications. Employees who successfully meet or exceed performance expectations during their annual performance evaluation will be eligible for a 4% wage increase. The full salary range for this position is $18.23 to $48.59 per hour and represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
* Operate 15–22 passenger transit vehicles
* Assist passengers in and out of vehicles, including non-ambulatory individuals using mobility aids
* Coordinate routes and schedules
* Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections and report defects
* Complete passenger intake forms and maintain emergency contact information
* Communicate with program supervisors regarding scheduling and participant needs
* Maintain accurate records of transit activities
* Participate in case staffings and report service-related issues
* Perform other related duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and Abilities
Qualifications
* Knowledge of local geography and ability to read and interpret maps
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Ability to follow federal, state, and local regulations
* Safe driving record over the past five years
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
* Familiarity with client assessment and behavioral support techniques
Education and Experience
* Nine months of experience with a public or private transit agency
* One year of experience in a role requiring detailed recordkeeping
* Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Certifications and Licenses
* Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement
* Valid First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 8 weeks)
* Passenger Assistance Technique certification (or ability to obtain within 8 weeks)
* CDL Physical and acceptable criminal background check
* Compliance with FTA drug and alcohol screening requirements
Physical Demands and Work Environment
* Regular sitting, talking, hearing, and use of hands for vehicle operation
* Frequent bending, twisting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
* Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
* Exposure to moderate noise and confined workspaces
* Ability to travel and maintain regular, predictable attendance
