Tenure: 12 months in the first instance, with potential extension
We are seeking expressions of interest for three Clinical Director roles within the Children’s Division at The Royal London Hospital. These senior leadership posts offer an exceptional opportunity to shape the strategic direction, quality, and delivery of paediatric services within one of the most diverse and dynamic health systems in the UK.

Working in close partnership with the Divisional Director and senior multi-disciplinary colleagues, the post holders will provide visible, inclusive leadership and will be accountable for clinical quality, patient safety, operational performance and the experience of children, young people and their families. Each Clinical Director will lead a defined portfolio within Children’s Services and will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

Eligibility
Applicants must already hold a substantive clinical post within Barts Health and demonstrate a strong and consistent commitment to high-quality paediatric care, collaborative and inclusive leadership, staff development and delivering excellent patient experience. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in balancing the responsibilities of this leadership role alongside their clinical duties.
The 2 PA commitment can be accommodated either as additional PAs or through adjustment of existing job plans following agreement within your team.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Registration with relevant professional body
2. Post graduate qualifications
3. Employed substantively in clinical practice within Barts Health NHS Trust
4. Evidence of continuing professional development
5. A good understanding of the current context of health and social care, and of clinical learning and research
6. A good understanding of the specific issues in East London
7. A broad understanding of the systems for primary care, social care and commissioning
8. Knowledge of the Trust priorities

10. Worked clinically at a senior level for at least 3 years
11. Significant experience of leadership and management
12. Experience of clinical governance and of the measures to ensure patient safety
13. A record of partnership working
14. Track record of innovation
15. Track record of managing and developing staff
16. Track record of addressing poor performance
17. Able to establish and sustain effective strategic direction
