Description Invigilator (Zero-Hours), Chatham About the Role Join Pearson TQ as an Invigilator and support learners throughout their assessment journey by delivering fair, compliant, and well-managed Functional Skills assessments. This is a zero-hours role, offering flexibility based on learner demand. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary week to week (typically around 3-6 hours when invigilation require). The role includes regular evening invigilation between 18:00–20:00 at Brompton Barracks (Chatham), so availability during these times is essential. You will invigilate English and Mathematics assessments while ensuring a professional, supportive environment where learners can perform at their best. The role is based across Brompton Barracks (Chatham) and Invicta Park Barracks (Maidstone). Your Key Responsibilities Assessment Delivery Invigilate Functional Skills English and Mathematics assessments (paper-based and online). Support the delivery of mock assessments, initial and diagnostic assessments, and online learning sessions. Prepare and set up assessment environments in line with awarding body and JCQ regulations. Maintain full supervision of learners during assessments to ensure compliance and integrity. Compliance & Administration Ensure all assessments are conducted in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations (Instructions for Conducting Examinations). Accurately complete and maintain required documentation, including attendance registers, seating plans, and supervision reports. Submit all examination paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Learner Support & Engagement Create a calm, supportive, and professional assessment environment. Monitor attendance, track learner participation, and report absences where required. Support inclusive access to assessment and promote equal opportunity for all learners. Operational Support Set up and invigilate online learning sessions and assessments. Provide completed assessment materials to Functional Skills Tutors for marking where required. Maintain accurate records of learner activity and achievement. Continuous Development Participate in relevant training and development activities. Ensure your practice remains aligned with current standards and regulations. What We’re Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail. Good working knowledge of Functional Skills qualifications. Confident IT skills, including the ability to support online assessments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexibly, including regular evening work (18:00–20:00), depending on assessment schedules. A proactive, reliable, and professional approach to supporting learners. Desirable Skills & Experience Experience of invigilating examinations or assessments. Knowledge of apprenticeship delivery. Experience working within an education setting or with military learners.
