The Discipline Lead HVDC Interconnectors will be responsible for all resourcing, training, team development, all project and technical aspects of HVDC Interconnector tenders and projects, ensuring that all engineering and technical requirements are met. This role requires an appreciation of HVDC plant and equipment, subsea cable systems design and installation, emerging technology, strong leadership skills, the ability to manage technical team and complex projects together with the management of technical budgets, schedule and resources effectively. A little more about your role: Leading proposals for new work and business development discussions Lead the technical execution of HVDC Interconnector projects. Take a leadership engineering role on strategically important projects Fulfilling Project Director role to ensure the safe, efficient and quality delivery of projects and frameworks. Support the execution of the Transmission and Distribution sector strategic plan Develop and implement technical strategies, standards, and processes to streamline efficient delivery execution. Oversee the design, engineering, and technical aspects of project development. Ensure compliance with all relevant technical regulations, standards, and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and environmental teams. Conduct technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and contribute to the development of a technical competence. Stay updated on the latest advancements in offshore cable technology and incorporate innovative solutions into projects. Represent the company in technical discussions with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners. Manage technical budgets, schedules, and resources effectively. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate: Extensive experience in HVDC systems, including converter stations, subsea cable systems, and interconnector technologies Proven leadership in multidisciplinary engineering teams, with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire technical staff Strong track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects, ideally within the transmission and distribution or offshore energy sectors In-depth understanding of project lifecycle management, from tendering and concept design through to execution and commissioning Excellent knowledge of relevant technical standards and regulatory frameworks, including UK and international codes Commercial awareness and experience managing technical budgets, schedules, and resources Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience representing technical teams in client and regulatory discussions Ability to identify and implement innovative engineering solutions, staying ahead of emerging technologies in HVDC and offshore cable systems Experience in business development and proposal leadership, contributing to strategic growth and sector positioning Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body (e.g. IET, IEEE) is highly desirable Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
