At Turning Point, we have been supporting people for over 60 years.
As a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber at our Herefordshire Recovery Service, you’ll make a real difference by empowering and enabling people to change. Passionate about people, you’ll receive support to enhance your own life too, as you make the role your own in a friendly and multidisciplinary team.
Our integrated community drug and alcohol service offers support to individuals across Herefordshire in the West Midlands. You will work within a busy prescribing service under the supervision of our Clinical Services Manager and Clinical Lead, alongside our Clinical Team, Team Leaders, specialist Recovery Workers, and Volunteers to improve the wellbeing of a wide range of individuals.
Role Responsibilities
As a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber, you will be involved with opiate substitute treatment (OST) interventions, benzodiazepine reductions, alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and relapse prevention medications. You will also provide support for healthcare assessments, administer detoxification medication, perform blood-borne virus (BBV) screening and vaccinations, and work closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. You’ll help create a collaborative approach linking Turning Point more closely with outside professionals and agencies.
You will attend prescribers' meetings, receive clinical supervision, and participate in national prescriber/clinician meetings to support your learning and professional development. Full training and supervision are provided. You will have opportunities to shape service delivery and contribute to high-quality clinical services.
As an employee, you will have access to RCNi resources for revalidation, indemnity insurance, and support from our Clinical Lead, Clinical Services Manager, Head of Nursing, and Head of Medicines Optimization and Pharmacy Services.
The Ideal Candidate
You should be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or be a qualified Pharmacist and already be an independent prescriber. Confidence in managing all aspects of prescribing for opiates and alcohol detoxifications is essential.
You will join an established team in Herefordshire. Excellent communication skills, high organization, and the ability to develop creative, flexible support packages tailored to individual needs are crucial. The role involves running clinics and delivering interventions across various locations in Herefordshire and outreach activities, with some out-of-hours work. Therefore, flexibility, a car owner, and the ability to travel are essential.
We are looking for someone who loves engaging with people with diverse needs, genuinely interested in helping them, and possesses empathy, understanding, and patience.
