NHS Lothian Senior Research Nurse Band 6
Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility, RIE — 36 hours per week.
About the role
We are recruiting innovative and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to assist in providing high‑quality planned nursing care for patients and volunteers participating in clinical research.
Research nurses play a vital role in the delivery of NHS Lothian’s Research and Development objectives through the coordination of studies, management of research data, and the delivery of specialist nursing care required as part of the studies.
Responsibilities
* Deliver direct and indirect care to patients and volunteers participating in research studies.
* Collect, manage and report research data in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines.
* Coordinate studies and maintain clinical, staff and research governance.
* Ensure the day‑to‑day effective running of research studies on a day‑to‑day basis.
Requirements & Qualifications
Mental and physical health are prerequisites for the role. Applicants must have a valid work permit for the United Kingdom.
Applicants must have current membership or a record on the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, you must apply to Disclosure Scotland and have the record deemed satisfactory before commencing.
Experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably within a clinical research setting and an understanding of GCP, is required.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the level of criminal record check required may change. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, the appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme.
