Science Technician – Full Time (New Forest Area)

GSL Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school in the New Forest area to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join their thriving Science Department.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking school environment that values curiosity, practical learning, and high-quality science education. The role is available on a full-time basis immediately, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position from September.
About the Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and safe Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You’ll be working closely with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons run smoothly and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical Science lessons
* Supporting teachers during experiments and demonstrations
* Ensuring all apparatus is maintained, cleaned, and stored correctly
* Managing stock levels of chemicals and resources, including ordering supplies
* Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed at all times in line with school and departmental guidelines
* Assisting in the development of a safe and stimulating laboratory environment
About You
The school is keen to hear from a range of applicants. You do not need to have previous school-based experience, as full training and support can be provided.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
* A Science degree (ideal for graduates aspiring to become Science Teachers)
* OR experience in a technical, laboratory, or practical-based environment
* OR transferable skills such as stock control, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, or similar hands-on roles
* A genuine interest in science and education
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* A proactive and reliable approach to work
This is also an excellent stepping stone for graduates considering a future career in teaching, offering invaluable classroom and practical lab experience.
