If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a strong understanding of how a Theatre operates, then we have just the role for you.
We are looking for a Theatre Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Theatre team at Shepton Mallet Hospital.
You will be a vital member of the Theatre team, providing support to qualified staff to ensure a safe and effective clinical service across the Theatre.
You will provide a patient-focused service within the unit, expanding your role appropriately under supervision and guidance of a trained nurse. This includes ensuring documentation is up to date, liaising with other providers and the wider hospital team, and taking responsibility for booking pre-assessment appointments.
Working 37.5 hours a week, between Monday and Sunday
Main duties of the job
* Support the registered nurse and operating department practitioner in implementing an agreed plan of care, in accordance with instructions and training received.
* Promote safe patient care and develop new skills to enhance clinical service delivery.
* Help maintain an environment conducive to meeting patients' needs.
* Contribute to a team approach to patient care alongside theatre colleagues and multidisciplinary team members.
* Participate in theatre and other unit meetings.
* Support and assist qualified staff.
* Assist with cleaning and sterilizing theatre equipment between and after cases.
* Help transport patients to and from the ward.
* Monitor and maintain stock levels of materials and equipment within theatres, as delegated by qualified practitioners.
* Participate in monthly stock counts and liaise with suppliers regarding stock of implants.
* Complete relevant documentation accurately.
* Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, working collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
* Assist the team in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
