The Company
We’re supporting a nationally recognised logistics organisation. With industry-leading technology and high daily throughput, the site relies on a skilled engineering team to keep operations moving smoothly and safely. They’re currently seeking electrically biased Maintenance Engineers to join the team on a rotating weekday shift pattern.
The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of automated equipment including conveyors, sorters, and tipping systems. You’ll work across electrical and mechanical systems, responding to faults, performing planned maintenance, and contributing to the safe, organised running of the engineering function.
This role is operationally integrated, requiring not just technical skill but strong communication and awareness of workflow across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor workflow across the site, identifying and resolving mechanical or -electrical issues quickly to minimise disruption.
- Liaise effectively with Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and Control Room staff to coordinate fault responses and maintenance tasks.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs across a wide range of automated machinery.
- Diagnose and repair faults in control panels, drives, motors, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Replace belts, chains, bearings, and other components as required.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working order and stored correctly when not in use.
- Maintain accurate nightly records of maintenance activity, fault resolution, and handovers.
- Follow all operational and maintenance procedures in line with company standards and Health & Safety legislation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- City & Guilds qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong background in electrical/mechanical maintenance
- Knowledge of 16th/17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams
- Experience working on PLC-controlled systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
- Understanding of Health & Safety procedures in an industrial setting
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience in fast-paced logistics, sortation, or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with control room environments and workflow monitoring systems
- Flexible approach to shift work and problem-solving
The Offer:
- Base Salary of ÂŁ42,000
- 13% uplift for night shifts
