Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the University of Nottingham’s Customs Compliance processes as Customs Compliance Manager and serve as the university’s Subject Matter Expert in Customs. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while maximising tax reliefs and minimising tax costs on imports and exports, making customs declarations and providing expertise to the wider team. The role is largely autonomous, supported by the Tax Services team, and is a fixed‑term contract until 31 October 2027, covering maternity leave.
About the Team
The Tax Services team ensures the University complies with UK and global tax legislation across VAT, payroll taxes, corporation tax, and customs/duty. The team is composed of subject‑matter experts in each major tax, with support from Senior Tax Assistants and Tax Assistants who work across the taxes.
About You
You will have extensive experience in advising on UK customs and duty laws and/or in making customs declarations. Experience in the higher education sector and knowledge of relevant VAT reliefs and CPCs is desirable.
