Overview
Urban Drainage Modellers, Hydraulic Modelling – Assistant to Principal. Our UK Water business seeks to recruit Urban Drainage Modellers across UK offices to support service delivery for Water Companies, Local Authorities, developers, with potential involvement in international projects. Teams work flexibly, and home offices across the UK are possible for these opportunities. You will join a team of engineers, modellers, geographers, GIS specialists and technicians delivering drainage design, SuDS and surface water management.

Your Purpose
* Development of computer models to investigate water network issues and investment needs and generation of outline solutions.
* Analysis of data.
* Supporting the development of engineering solutions and advising clients to help them make better asset investment decisions.
* Support development of reports and other project deliverables.
* Prepare (and adhere to) health and safety risk assessments.
* Support in the development of tender responses and fee estimates at higher grades.
* Supervising and developing staff and providing guidance to support their professional development at higher grades.
* Contributing towards technical innovation.
What You Can Bring
Experience/awareness of urban drainage modelling within InfoWorks ICM (or CS), GIS packages such as ARC or MapInfo and civil engineering would be advantageous but not essential as full on-the-job training will be provided where required. Roles involve feasibility studies, using computer analysis to support flooding and environmental improvement projects, site visits and liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies. Output is typically in short reports outlining the approach taken and findings from the investigation.
Desirable Requirements Include
* Understanding of UK Water Industry and regulatory issues.
* Experience in wastewater modelling and distribution networks.
* Building and calibrating network models.
* Using network models for planning, operational and solution development purposes.
* Experience with InfoWorks ICM (or CS) and other modelling software.
Required
For the more senior roles, varying levels of experience in model build and verification, hydraulic and water quality analysis, catchment planning, Drainage and Wastewater Management Planning (DWMP), solution development and technical leadership are required to match the specific position as well as:
* Expertise using InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.
* Proven track record in coordinating and delivering technically excellent projects.
* Ability to check the work of others to provide quality assurance and drive continuous improvement in work delivered to the client.
* Implementation of industry-leading solutions and development of innovative solutions.
* Management and technical supervision of a team of wastewater modellers.
* Supervision of report writing and check and review of outputs.
Desirable Qualifications
* BSc/BEng/MEng degree level in geography, GIS, science, engineering or equivalent with appropriate professional qualifications at senior levels. Technician roles may require HNC/HND; opportunities to work towards qualifications will be available for successful candidates.
