Main duties Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology
You should either have or be within six months of being awarded a CCST in Paediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition), as recognised by the training advisors in the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition CSAC or be an established Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist.

As a Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology, you will play a pivotal role in improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people with a wide range of gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional conditions.

Person Specification Qualifications, Training & Experience
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Hold a CCT (or equivalent for overseas service) in Paediatrics or be within six months of CCT date or have undertaken comparable paediatric gastroenterology training
Experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutrition, Paediatric Endoscopy
On specialist register for paediatrics and have recognition on the specialist register in Paediatric gastroenterology
Completion or evidence of working towards a higher academic degree (MD/PhD).
Familiarity with working in networks
Previous research experience
Aptitudes and skills
Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).
Commitment to CPD supporting undergraduate learning
Awareness of the requirements of clinical governance, with particular reference to paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition
Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national forums
Formal training in clinical governance
