Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead the culinary team at our new pub, The Mermaid at Burford. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. As Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation are maintained. Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
* Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met.
* Manage food preparation and cooking activities across all sections of the kitchen.
* Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the kitchen.
* Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to minimise waste and control costs.
* Train and mentor junior staff members, promoting professional development within the team.
* Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction.
* Maintain organisation of kitchen equipment and workspaces for efficiency and safety.
Skills
* Proven supervising experience within a busy culinary environment.
* Extensive food production expertise with a strong background in food preparation and cooking techniques.
* Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster teamwork.
* In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
* Strong leadership qualities coupled with effective communication skills.
* Experience in restaurant operations or hospitality settings is highly desirable.
