Position Summary
The Procurement & Carbon Compliance Manager is responsible for advancing sustainable procurement initiatives across the organization. This role leads the implementation of strategies that generate financial efficiencies and minimize environmental harm, while championing environmental goals and keeping teams and stakeholders informed of progress and targets.
Main Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
* Cultivate an organizational culture of sustainable procurement to deliver cost efficiencies and reduce environmental impact.
* Design and roll out the company's overarching Sustainability Strategy.
Procurement
* Develop sustainable procurement policy frameworks and toolkits for staff use.
* Advise teams on procurement, ensuring compliance and supporting value-driven purchasing.
* Oversee supplier relations, targeting improvements in sustainability and risk management.
* Partner with stakeholders to integrate sustainable procurement best practices.
* Conduct and streamline quotations and tendering processes.
* Regularly assess and enhance procurement workflows to boost performance.
* Liaise with purchasing consortiums as required.
Contract Management
* Collaborate with contract administrators and suppliers to elevate contractor standards.
* Generate contract performance and expenditure reports aligned to KPIs.
* Support with contract reviews, amendments, and updates.
* Maintain up-to-date records of all contracts and procurement activities.
Sustainability Compliance
* Join forces with senior leaders to define and implement the organization's sustainability targets—especially those aimed at net-zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
* Work closely with departments to activate sustainability action plans.
* Build and manage systems to track environmental impact and reporting.
* Coordinate with budget holders and senior stakeholders to promote sustainability leadership.
* Research and implement innovative, ethical carbon offset initiatives.
* Serve as lead for relationships with relevant sustainability networks and partners.
Other Duties
* Support finance and operational teams to maximize process efficiency and manage budgets.
* Identify and address training needs, and help develop colleagues through mentoring and coaching.
* Engage in continual professional and regulatory learning.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree-level (or equivalent experience) in sustainability, environmental management, or related field.
* Professional procurement or supply chain qualifications, or equivalent expertise.
* Membership of, or study towards, relevant professional bodies is advantageous.
* Demonstrated understanding of sustainability regulations, policies, and local/global frameworks.
* Solid experience in developing and executing procurement and sustainability strategies in complex organizations.
* Background in sustainability education initiatives and driving measurable cost or environmental improvements.
* Familiarity with carbon offsetting programs is an asset.
