Located in the old steelworks in Ebbw Vale in South East Wales, Gwent Archives delivers an archive service for Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Monmouthshire County Council, Newport City Council and Torfaen County Borough Council.
Following a recent retirement and a new management structure, Gwent Archives is looking to appoint a Senior Archivist on a permanent basis. The post-holder will work alongside the existing Senior Archivist (Collections), will lead on access and engagement and form part of the Leadership Team, along with the County Archivist, Senior Archivist (Collections) and Conservator. The post-holder will develop and deliver an excellent service on-site and remotely, initiate and maintain relationships with partners and contribute to strategic planning. They will also line manage a small team of Archivists, Assistant Archivists and Archive Assistants.
Along with other skills, knowledge and experience, the successful candidate will have significant experience as an Archivist and a specialist understanding of sources held in a local authority archive service. They will have significant experience of using archive standards, policies and procedures as well as experience working in a customer-focussed environment and leading, managing and developing a team.
