Job Summary
Band 6 Oncology Specialist Dietitian (1.0 WTE 12 months fixed term - 37.5hours) at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role provides an exciting opportunity to provide dietetic input across a variety of our oncology dietetic services, including cover to the Head and Neck, Upper GI and support to the general oncology dietetic teams.
The post will provide both an inpatient and outpatient services (including MDT specialist clinics) across both hospital sites at Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a skilled Dietitian, experienced within the NHS, to join our team providing nutritional care to patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses with particular focus on head and neck and UGI cancer.
We are looking for a Dietitian with well-developed team working, communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills. Experience of working in oncology and delivering complex nutritional support, including enteral tube feeding is essential.
This role will require ability to work flexibly, outside of normal working hours on a weekly basis, if the service requires.
About Us
We have a large, friendly and supportive Dietetic Department as well as MDT Head and Neck and UGI cancer teams.
Our dietetic department is based across our 2 hospital sites; Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).
This role will involve working across both sites to provide support within the Head and Neck, Upper GI cancer services and support to the general oncology team.
You will work closely with the wider MDT teams within each speciality, including oncology and surgical consultants and speciality doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, speech and language therapists, psychologists, cancer support workers and ward staff.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Degree/Diploma in Dietetics
Registered with HCPC
Experience of working with a variety of patient cohorts within the NHS, preferably with experience within oncology, and complex enteral tube feeding
Post registration training in enteral feeding, nutrition support or oncology, such as attendance at relevant accredited courses
Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge in cancer care and enteral tube feeding
Prioritisation of workloads, planning and organisational/ time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
Experience of effectively working within a team
Implementing evidence-based practice
Ability and experience in developing and delivering education sessions to a variety of audiences such as colleagues, patients and healthcare staff
Demonstrate willingness to be flexible, including outside normal working hours on a weekly basis, if the service requires
