Overview
An award-winning publication with a national and international readership is seeking an experienced reporter for a role focused on original, agenda-setting journalism. The successful candidate will be based in London and will lead news coverage across the Asian markets.
This position involves reporting on major policy developments and key stories across the region. The role requires delivering a mix of breaking news, in-depth reporting, interviews with influential figures, and exclusive stories that engage a global audience. The reporter will also produce long-form features that provide insightful analysis on significant issues shaping the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead coverage of news for business across Asia
* Report on major policy developments and sector-wide issues
* Produce breaking news, exclusive stories, and agenda-setting journalism
* Conduct interviews with senior figures including university leaders, policymakers, and researchers
* Deliver long-form features and in-depth analysis on key topics within the sector
* Monitor and report on important scheduled (“on-diary”) news
* Identify and pursue off-diary stories that provide unique insights for readers
* Build and maintain strong contacts within the community
* Represent the publication within the sector and engage with relevant stakeholders
Candidate Profile
* At least two years’ experience working at a reputable news outlet
* Strong track record of finding and breaking original news stories
* Excellent writing and storytelling skills
* Ability to understand and report on complex policy issues
* Confident interviewing a wide range of stakeholders, from researchers to senior leadership and political figures
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple stories and deadlines
* A proactive and curious approach to journalism, with a clear ability to identify impactful stories
