HGV WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR Great opportunity for a HGV Technician / Workshop Foreman to step up and be the Workshop Supervisor for a fleet company in Birmingham. Location of the HGV Technician / HGV Workshop Foreman / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Controller / Fleet Mechanic / HGV Charge Hand / HGV Lead Mechanic / Semi Productive Workshop Supervisor: Birmingham / near Tamworth Salary: £45,000.00 basic plus Overtime - plus Van and Fuel Card Hours of Work for the HGV Technician / HGV Workshop Foreman / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Controller / Fleet Mechanic / HGV Charge Hand / HGV Lead Mechanic / Semi Productive Workshop Supervisor: Monday to Friday Days This is a semi productive role, so you may need to help out on the workshop floor and you will also be required to assist on the out of hours support maybe a couple times a week. Summary of the role's main purpose: * Ensuring workshop staff are being utilised. * Smooth running of the workshop. * Ensure a high H&S standard (safe working practices) are being followed & the correct PPE is used by staff within the workshop. * Ensuring repairs to a high standard & maintenance schedule are being followed to the manufacturers recommendations on the Fleet. * Quality Control of vehicles prior to presentation for MOT. * Taking Commercial vehicle to MOT test. * Mentoring of Apprentice’s in their final year of college * To “stand in” for the workshop manager during absences. * Out of hours support – Fully equipped van is supplied Principal Accountabilities for the HGV Technician / HGV Workshop Foreman / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Controller / Fleet Mechanic / HGV Charge Hand / HGV Lead Mechanic / Semi Productive Workshop Supervisor: To assist in minimising off-road time for all vehicles and compliance to O-Licence regulations. To notify the office of vehicle damage. To handle and process customer defects and breakdowns To ensure that all service and inspection documentation is correctly completed To work within and implement a policy of "Preventative Maintenance" Procurement of parts Production and updating of workshop and VOR reports on a daily basis Ad-Hoc duties as required To help control the maintenance spend Delegate work to the technicians including Mobile techs when required Core Areas of Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Essential: City & Guilds level 3 equivalent in HGV repairs & maintenance Strong knowledge of the “Guide to maintaining roadworthiness” Effective verbal and written skills, coupled with strong decision making and problem solving.
