An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Plymouth Faculty of Health as Assistant Administrator.
About the role
The Faculty of Health Assessments Team are dynamic, fast paced, and energetic. Combining events planning with data analysis, the team organise and support the delivery of a range of assessments for the medical and dental schools. Assessments range in size from 30-40 students to around 150 and are delivered in a variety of ways, from online invigilated examinations to ISCE and USPSE assessments, which require students to demonstrate clinical competencies in a simulated environment. Flexibility and adaptability are important to assist with exam delivery, which can occasionally fall outside of typical working hours.
The medical and dental schools offer a supportive and collaborative workplace, where innovative ideas are encouraged and the opinions of all are respected and listened to.
This is a part‑time position working 14.8 hours per week on a fixed‑term basis until 31 July 2027 due to funding.
You will
* Work with academic and professional services team members across and externally to the university, attending various meetings to write minutes and preparing paperwork in advance of meetings.
* Provide support during exams, requiring clear communication and following the direction of more senior team members.
* Be a valued member of an established team of four, working under the guidance of an Assessment Administrator and alongside another Assistant Administrator.
Day to day tasks
* Liaising with academic staff to update assessment forms on the relevant system.
* Creating data files to upload to digital forms for upcoming student assessments.
* Proofreading written exam instructions and double‑checking exam arrangements before students are informed.
* Updating Excel‑based trackers to indicate progress of assessment forms for ongoing student assessments.
* Exam preparation, such as preparing allocation of students to rooms and venues for upcoming exam dates and creating invigilator room packs for exams.
* Servicing and attending a variety of meetings, including post‑test meetings, working groups and team meetings, and typing up minutes using existing templates.
* Keeping open communication with the team, asking for support, and checking each other’s work, and motivating one another.
Due to the nature of the role, this position cannot be carried out from home.
Location and travel
The role will mainly be based in the John Bull building in Plymouth. During assessments, you may be required to be present at various locations across Plymouth, and occasional travel to our Torbay, Truro and Taunton sites may be required to support the activities of the team.

We’re currently unable to sponsor this role under the Skilled Worker visa route. However, we welcome applicants who already have the right to work in the UK, including those on visa routes we can accept (e.g. Graduate visas).
