Solution Architect

A Solution Architect is required for our client who are based in Manchester. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on architecture role where you can influence direction, work across Azure and on‑prem technologies, and deliver meaningful change.
You will be a technically strong and will lead the design and delivery of enterprise‑scale infrastructure solutions. You'll work closely with architects, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to turn high‑level ideas into robust, secure, scalable technical designs.
This role offers real variety: from cloud architecture to modern infrastructure, automation, security, integration, and strategic technical leadership. If you're an Infrastructure Engineer or 3rd Line Engineer who's already designing solutions in practice, this could be the perfect next step into a full Solution Architect role.
Responsibilities:
Designing and delivering end-to-end infrastructure solutions across hybrid Azure/on‑prem environments.
Acting as technical lead on major projects, working closely with delivery and engineering teams.
Producing high‑quality design documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, options papers, and architectures.
Presenting solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Providing expertise across infrastructure, networking, virtualisation, Windows technologies, and cloud.
Enhancing automation using PowerShell, Python, Bicep, and GitHub.
Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and innovation.
Experience required:
Strong experience delivering infrastructure solutions in large, complex hybrid environments.
Expertise across core technologies such as VMware, Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, SQL, networking, firewalls, and enterprise‑grade hardware.
Hands‑on experience building and deploying Azure solutions using infrastructure as code.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
Desirable:
Microsoft certifications (Azure Architect, M365 Admin, DevOps), or industry credentials such as VMware, Cisco, Palo Alto, HPE
