Overview

The 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work on site at one of our Heysham 1 and 2 Power Stations. You’ll launch your career in Nuclear Systems Engineering with a customised training programme. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience while being mentored by highly skilled professionals.


What You’ll Be Doing

During your Nuclear Systems Engineering Industrial Placement, you’ll gain an understanding of how the Fuel Route process works on a running power station and an understanding of the AGR functionality. You’ll learn about systems vital to the smooth operation of Fuel Route, including safety protocols, technical governance, quality assurance, analysis, communication strategies, and IT systems. You’ll also have the opportunity to further develop Planning & Project Management skills to build a network that enables successful delivery of work packages.


Your Work Location

You’ll be based on site at one of the Heysham 1 and 2 Power Stations, within the Fuel Route team.


Who You Are

To be eligible for this scheme, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Maths, Physics, Science or Engineering. Our selection process uses a strengths-based approach to showcase your skills and motivations, focusing on individual strengths to enhance engagement and success in the workplace. You must have the right to work in the UK. While sponsorship may be possible, EDF reserves the right to prioritise applicants who already have the right to work in the UK.

Security Vetting: To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which ordinarily requires residency in the UK for at least three of the past five years.
