Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at UCLH to join the Proton Beam Therapy Team from April 2026 as a Clinical Fellow.

The post holders will be involved in advanced radiotherapy planning of patients receiving proton therapy as well as conducting on treatment reviews and outcome collection. This offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain experience in radiotherapy for children and teenagers and for sarcoma, brain and head and neck cancers. The post holder would be expected to be engaged with clinical trials as well as review and audit of the evolving service.

This post would be suitable for a clinical oncology trainee seeking experience to augment their programmed clinical training. The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Lead for Proton Beam Therapy. Possession of FRCR is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties will involve attending outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings and PBT planning meetings. The successful candidates will have a unique training opportunity to follow patients through their PBT treatment course. They will be involved with initial patient assessment, radiotherapy pre-assessment and planning, reviewing patients on-treatment and robust collection of clinical outcomes. They will gain dedicated experience in the management of patients receiving PBT and learn about the clinical differences between PBT and photon treatments.
