Weare looking for an individual to fill this new post within the Obstetrics andGynaecology Department at the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust sites.
LeedsTeaching Hospitals is a busy, research active tertiary centre providingregional Obstetric and Gynaecology services including specialist fetalmedicine, maternal medicine, placenta accreta, urogynaecology and endometriosisservices.

Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful applicant should possess MRCOG (or equivalent) and should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time ofinterview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should have established skillsin obstetrics and gynaecology, including complex obstetrics, gynaecologicalsurgical skills and experience in abortion care.
A strong commitment to undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable. Consideration willbe given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing tojob share.

Job responsibilities
Inrelation to this post, thispost will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Obstetric and Gynaecology teams
across Leeds GeneralInfirmary and St James University Hospital.
This post has arisen as part of the replacement ofConsultant staffing within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Womens ClinicalService Unit (CSU) and the beginning of longer term workforce planning forBuilding the Leeds Way; the opening of a the new hospital incorporatingMaternity Services.
Person Specification
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
* Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in:
* Experience of Labour ward management at a high level and demonstrate full range of skills necessary to provide expert care in a tertiary referral obstetric unit
* Experience in independent gynaecology practice relevant to post
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
* Experience in advanced obstetric and gynaecology skills.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in labour ward and gynaecological practice.
* ATSM/SITM in Safe Practice in Abortion Care (or evidence of equivalent qualification).
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit / quality improvement projects (QIP).
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Evidence of ongoing research or recent involvement as PI.
* GCP.
* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
* Experience at National or Regional Level.
Management, Interpersonal Skills & Other Requirements
* Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
* Evidence of QI/Governance Experience/Service Improvement
* Well organised and skilled in good time management.

* - Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team and to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other health professionals and organisations

* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
* CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process. CESR applicants must be on the relevant Specialist Register at the time of application.
* Attendance at recognised management course.
* Experience working for NHSE or Network organisations or similar.
Qualifications
* MB BS (or equivalent)
* Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) or equivalent.
* Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of CCT date in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or have equivalent training and experience.
* On Specialist Register with GMC and holding a licence to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED CLEARLY IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM.
* Applicants must provide information regarding their status from the GMC and/or relevant Royal College at the time of applications, in order for their application to be progressed further. Interview applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the time of interview
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
