Job Purpose
* The EHC Practitioner plays a vital role in supporting children and young people (CYP) with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by managing the statutory assessment process and ensuring the timely development, review, and amendment of Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plans. The role involves close collaboration with families, educational settings, and multi-agency professionals to ensure tailored support that meets individual needs and complies with statutory requirements.
* The postholder will also oversee vulnerable groups, including CYP who are excluded, on part-time timetables, or receiving education other than at school (EOTAS/EOTAC/EHE).
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Construct and develop EHC Plans based on approved assessments.
* Ensure plans reflect the aspirations of the CYP and comply with legal standards.
* Coordinate annual and transitional reviews, ensuring appropriate provision and accountability.
* Amend plans to maintain accuracy and effectiveness.
Essential Experience Required
* Experience in managing statutory SEN processes and EHC Plans.
* Strong understanding of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals.
* Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills.
* Experience supporting vulnerable groups including EOTAS/EHE and excluded CYP.
Essential Qualification Required
* Degree or equivalent qualification in education, social care, or a related field.
* Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and statutory assessment frameworks.
* Safeguarding training and awareness.
* Additional qualifications in SEN or multi-agency working (desirable).
