Job Description

Role Overview

Your main focus will be to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!

The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the successful implementation of the reform.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight and feedback into Defra Policy discussions to incorporate regulatory requirements into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.

Additionally, you will:

* Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Support and contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team.

The Team

The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued, using evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to influence policy, legislation, and resources.

Experience and Skills Required

Additional Information

You will have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. Training will be provided, and the role offers flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
