Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Children’s Diabetes CNS to join an established team dedicated to managing diabetes in children at Ipswich Hospital. You will provide specialist clinical advice and care to children and young people with diabetes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist clinical advice and care to children and young people with diabetes.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team providing support to acute services.
* Develop collaborative working relationships with other healthcare professionals, services and agencies.
* Act autonomously to assess and treat own caseload of patients in the specialist children’s diabetes service.
* Develop, facilitate and deliver education of specialist knowledge to nursing, medical and paramedical staff.
* Advocate for children and families, promoting child‑focused, family‑centred care.
* Support a specialist daily service to in‑patients, providing expert nursing interventions, advice and support.
* Support and participate in audit, research and advancement of the Diabetes service, assisting with the development of specialist protocols and education package.
* Ensure that criteria for Best Practice Tariff (BPT) are met.
Qualifications
Experienced children's nurse with confidence and innovation, good teamwork skills, and the ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
