Job Description
New Directions Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing tailored support to children and helping them to access learning in a positive and inclusive environment.
The schools we work with are welcoming and supportive, with a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping individual pupils to build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their full potential.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs
• Supporting the pupil to access learning within the classroom
• Assisting with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Implementing individual support plans and strategies
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
