Overview
Gap personnel is urgently recruiting for a temporary Band 5 Electrical Engineer to cover a minimum 6-month period from ASAP. This is likely to extend to 1/7/2026.
Hours
37.5hrs per week – shift times between 06:30 – 19:00 rota plus on call
Role
The person appointed shall be a technician with an electrical background and will conduct, with minimum supervision, maintenance and installation work on all facilities, plant, and equipment throughout East and North Herts NHS Trust. They will provide technical engineering advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, fabric, and utility services for the trust. The post holder should have a current driving license and be prepared to use his/her vehicle for commuting between various hospital sites. A mileage allowance will be paid for this facility.
Qualifications / Training
* NVQ Level 3
* City and Guilds Level 3 in inspection and testing of electrical installations.
* 18th Edition
* First Aid
* Health and Safety qualification/ certification. E.g. (Risk assessment training)
* Portable appliance testing City & Guilds 237
Previous Experience
* Working in the Healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of HTM 06.02 (D)
* Experience of working within a team and own initiative
* Experience of working in a demanding environment with many, sometimes conflicting priorities.
* Experience in electrical maintenance and repair
Skills
* A positive and initiative-taking attitude to manage a high volume of work and ability to problem solve.
* Computer literate to include Word / Excel / Outlook / Power Point.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Commitment to, and experience of, multi-professional working arrangements and projects.

Pay & Apply
Weekly pay, £18.50/hour plus travel expenses between sites.
