Job Overview
The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Recruit-to-Train Trainee (ASC‑LD) to join our teams as part of NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes. The post will be located in one of our specialist services in Camden, one of the Tavistock Autism and Learning Disabilities Teams.

Person Specification
* Qualifications Demonstrate the capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level.
* Desirable Minimum second‑class Bachelor’s Degree from a UK University or equivalent; applicants missing academic criteria but with relevant professional experience are considered.
* Knowledge Understanding of ASC and/or LD in children, co‑morbidity risks, key features, adaptation of communication and interventions, safeguarding.
* Experience Two years’ experience in a mental‑health setting with children and young people or families; basic clinical competence with this group.
* Skills & Abilities Flexibility, creativity, communication adaptation, reflective practice, use of supervision, time management, record keeping, academic writing, IELTS or equivalent (Level: GOOD). Additional desirable skills include multi‑agency working, advocacy, observational stance, evidence‑based practice.
Work Programme
Training commences January 2026, with 2.5 days per week academic work and 2.5 days at the service. A full‑time trainee will be both employee and enrolled student with UCL and will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma upon completion.
Application Process
Dual application: submit to the Trust and complete a UCL application. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to apply to UCL. Appointment is contingent on securing this post and meeting UCL training requirements.
Salary & Contract
* Band 6 – £46,419 to £55,046 per annum (inclusive of HCAS)
* Fixed‑term, 12 months, full‑time
