GDi is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Surveyor to join our team, based in our offices in Aberdeen. Reporting to the Survey Manager, this position is responsible for carrying out surveying for Global Design Innovation Ltd, and any other company added to GDi’s portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion to learn and develop within this role.
Key Activities and Accountabilities:
1. Carry out a wide range of surveys in line with relevant procedures.
2. Develop approaches, undertake RAMS, and compile/review survey methodologies.
3. Conduct pre-mobilisation checks on survey and scanning equipment when required.
4. Respond to technical queries and media creation for clients and GDi personnel within appropriate timescales.
5. Process all captured data and prepare final deliverables.
6. Develop knowledge in the preparation of Survey Scopes, including man-hours and equipment estimates where applicable.
7. Carry out laser scanning/dimensional control surveys on clients' onshore/offshore assets as per GDi procedures.
8. Perform QA/QC analysis.
9. Model 3D data into 2D and 3D CAD drawings and reports as required.
10. Prepare and check drawings and 3D models.
11. Operate survey software and monitor data quality to ensure survey specifications are met.
12. Achieve targets and complete projects within budget and schedule, ensuring work aligns with priorities and timelines.
13. Report job progress and identify scope increases or reductions.
14. Support the preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals, tenders, and work programmes for new and existing clients.
15. Maintain substantial experience as a Land/Engineering Surveyor/Dimensional Control.
16. Be proficient in all aspects of laser scanning.
17. Understand survey techniques, error propagation, and datums.
18. Be aware of environmental conditions' implications on survey systems and data.
19. Understand calibration requirements and procedures for survey systems and sensors.
20. Understand client requirements and scopes of work to ensure clear understanding of contract deliverables.
21. Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
22. Develop ability to operate survey software systems and Microsoft Office packages.
23. Develop skills with geomatics and point cloud processing packages (Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, LFM, Recap).
24. Maintain good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
25. Be able to travel within the UK and abroad, including offshore locations.
26. This role involves working away from home for periods, mainly in the North Sea, with opportunities to work onshore/offshore internationally.
Qualifications & Certification
Work experience. National 5 or equivalent in English and Maths preferred.
Preferred:
* BSc in Surveying or relevant qualification.
Required:
* BOSIET, MIST, and offshore medical certification.
