Band 3 Medical Secretary - Plastics Department

An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent part-time position (18 hours/week) in the Burns and Plastics Department at Good Hope Hospital.
To provide secretarial support to Consultants and their teams with particular responsibility for audio typing clinic letters, discharge summaries, general copy typing correspondence, minutes and reports. To provide administrative support to the department/Clinical Team.
The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives and carers, undertaking work under the direction of the Medical Secretary Supervisor.

Main duties of the job
* To type clinic letters and reports from audio dictation.
* To book, reschedule and cancel appointments/clinics.
* To monitor waiting lists & clinic capacity.
* To produce accurate correspondence in a timely manner.
* To maintain & track results of patient investigations and prioritise and action according to clinical need/guidance from the medical team.
* To open and action post accordingly.
* Providing a first point of contact (telephone & email) for patients, colleagues and other health care professionals.
* Updating and inputting of patient data on systems and spreadsheets.
* Scanning documents as required to patient records.
* To be able to organise daily workload and prioritise tasks to meet timescales & deadlines.
* Completing necessary actions required from correspondence and any requests received.
