Main duties of the job
* Be based at the GWH Radiology department and the Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon on a rotational basis.
* When working in the Community Diagnostic Centre work collaboratively with GWH Radiology department to provide diagnostic radiographic examinations to the required standard.
* Independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2017 following practitioner guidelines where appropriate.
* Interpret Clinicians requirements, determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique, and ensure it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic.
* Use discretion to work outside of departmental standards when clinical circumstances necessitate, e.g., undertaking additional or specialist techniques.
* Report any untoward incidents and equipment failure to the Superintendent or Clinical Band 7.
* Abide by the Health and Safety Code of the unit and ensure that all patients and visitors do likewise.
* Appear on duty promptly and appropriately dressed and behave in a professional manner.
* Work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospital, including night shifts.
Job responsibilities
* Undertake diagnostic scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols. Administer contrast as required for the needs of the patients, ensuring safety checks are completed and accuracy in dosage.
* Use the departmental Computed Radiology Information Computer system (CRIS) as required and be conversant with the Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS).
* Undertake Quality Control procedures, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality and equipment safety, and help with clinical audits.
* Undertake and participate in clinical audit and research, act on findings where possible and provide statistical information on the workload when necessary.
* Undertake any formal or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the post.
* Undertake additional roles within the department, reviewing and facilitating compliance, and proposing changes with high standards in areas such as, but not limited to, health and safety, infection control, patient experience or manual handling.

Qualifications
* Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
* Post‑graduate certificate in CT or MRI or equivalent training or experience
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
* General Radiographic training
* Evidence of CPD
* Intravenous cannulation
* Relevant study day attendance
Experience & Skills
* Extensive post graduate experience in Radiography
* Extensive CT experience
* Experience of performance department Quality Assurance
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and independently
* Experience in supervising students
* MRI experience
* CT colonography
* Interventional experience
