EXPERTISE:
The focus of this role is to work on the Turbine Hall Crane and Polar Crane and the responsibilities will be delivering manufacturing support for the new equipment; commissioning on site after installation; and the provision of safety case support through this process.
Requirements:
3 Engineers to support Lifting and Mechanical Handling
1 Radioactive Waste Engineer
Have a minimum of baseline security vetting.
Location: close to the HPC / Bristol / Gloucester areas are preferred
SCOPE – LIFTING:
Delivering manufacturing support for the new equipment.
During manufacture, the engineers will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment being produced is in accordance with British Regulations and has the required safety case validation to support this.
Requests for change will be handled to ensure that the design intent is maintained through any deviation requests; Non-conformances will similarly be reviewed to ensure the continuity of baseline design requirements through the rectification of any issues.
Commissioning on site after installation:
Commissioning support is required to ensure that the operational system meets all the original requirements. This will include:
- Verification that the commissioning documentation is to the right standard and contains a demonstratable golden-thread from the original requirements through to the testing plans.
- Reviews are expected on a sample of the documentation, rather than on a 100% basis.
- Sentencing of commissioning non-conformances and the oversight of solutions to maintain design intent.
- On site support for periods during commissioning to enable expedited responses.
Onsite commissioning at HPC is planned for 2027.
Provision of safety case support through this process.
The engineers will have a responsibility to ensure that the safety case is adhered to, and any amendments required are identified to allow completion.
SCOPE – WASTE
Engineers are required to have experience in the mechanical handling of waste materials.
REQUIRED CRITERIA:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* 3 to 6 years of experience in Lifting operations and supervision of safe lifts
* Nuclear Waste or other regulated industry
* Experience in the design and justification of equipment
* Knowledge of standards such as Gantry Cranes
* Delivering manufacturing support for the new equipment
* Commissioning on site after installation
* Knowledge of British Regulations
DESIRABLE :
* Experience with HPC or other EPR projects
* Knowledge or existing access to EDF systems would be an advantage
* Ability to meet commitment and deadlines
* Excellent Interpersonal and organisational skills and writing abilities
