Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking band 4 Assistant Theatre Practitioner (ATP) to work within the orthopaedic scrub team at the National Treatment Centre - Highland (NTC). This position is open to qualified ATPs and also offers a training pathway, with training primarily at NTC- Highland and additional sessions at NHS Scotland Academy (Glasgow). All training costs are funded by NTC- Highland, with courses starting in January 2026, and the post commencing upon completion of recruitment and disclosure checks.
About the Centre
The NTC-H is a purpose-built facility providing care for Ophthalmology and Orthopaedic patients, located at the City’s University Campus. It features 5 theatres, a 24-bedded ward, and dedicated outpatient departments for Ophthalmology. The orthopaedic theatres perform hip/knee arthroplasty procedures and day-case hand and foot surgeries.
Responsibilities
1. Perform circulating and scrub roles during surgical procedures, including scrubbing, gloving, gowning, setting up equipment, draping patients, and handling instruments.
2. Assist surgeons by anticipating their requirements and managing counts and documentation.
3. Participate in training and coursework for SVQ Level 3 as required.
