Summary: The role involves providing technical front-line support to industrial process/clean water treatment operations across the UK, monitoring process performance daily and over time, fault finding, and providing site technical guidance with significant technical capabilities to understand and implement process changes to maintain performance.
The Technical Process Water Specialist will serve as NSI’s primary on-site technical presence for operations teams, requiring travel within a set region and occasionally across the UK.
The role also includes leading/supporting water-related projects and business development opportunities throughout the UK, conducting site-specific feasibility studies, and developing process improvement plans to share best practices within the region.
The Specialist will be supported by site, area, and territory managers, as well as technical development team members and other company services as needed. They should be an experienced Water Treatment/Chemical/Process Engineer, utilizing their knowledge to improve treatment efficiencies, investigate performance issues, and support operations with technical and process expertise.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Promote safety leadership in all business aspects.
* Uphold company policies, legislative requirements, and embody company values.
* Possess in-depth process knowledge for fault finding, assessing impacts, risks, and implications of process changes.
* Make technical decisions based on site-specific process knowledge.
* Monitor daily process performance and guide technical decisions to ensure optimal activity and risk mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with site-specific process parameters, KPIs, client requirements, and regulations.
* Provide front-line support to water treatment operations.
* Focus on operational costs and how process operation influences them.
* Determine when O&M team support is needed to prevent performance impacts.
* Share and receive best practices with O&M teams for contract benefits.
* Assess and manage risks within long-term site service contracts.
* Participate in customer review meetings to report on plant performance and risks.
* Identify additional support opportunities for clients and support their implementation.
* Lead and develop water-related business opportunities with the Business Development Team.
* Assist other units in developing water treatment services.
* Review data on water treatment assets to identify issues and solutions.
* Develop structured approaches to problem resolution, including planning, risk assessment, and cost analysis.
* Coordinate pilot plant operations, data collection, and reporting.
* Represent NSI in design reviews and manage customer process/production changes, assessing risks and mitigation.
* Contribute to discussions on alternative technologies to optimize plant performance.
* Lead by example, deliver business objectives, and collaborate across teams.
* Respond to emergencies from a technical perspective.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
* Degree and postgraduate qualification in relevant engineering or water treatment, or significant relevant experience.
* Deep understanding of industrial water treatment processes (membrane separation, ion exchange, EDI, etc.).
* Minimum 5 years of site-based water treatment experience.
* Understanding of business strategy development and execution.
* Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
* Critical thinking, change leadership, influence skills.
* Valid full clean driving license.
* Desirable: HSQE, leadership, project management, site management, incident investigation, auditing qualifications.

Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
