This is a full-time, five-day-a-week role, working on Sundays from 2pm to 10pm, and Monday to Thursday evenings from 7pm to 3am.
This position is based in the newly opened canteen at Booker Distribution Fareham.
Applicants should have previous experience working in a kitchen environment.
As part of a small team of catering assistants, you will provide hot and cold food services to colleagues and ensure the canteen area remains clean and tidy at all times.
Responsibilities include ordering stock for food preparation and vending machines, supporting stock management and control, checking stock quality and codes, preparing food in line with hygiene regulations, and managing vending machine stock, pricing, cleaning, and cash collection.
You will also support hospitality services, maintain cleanliness of the canteen, kitchen facilities, dining area, and counters, and adhere to food hygiene, HACCP, allergen, and COSHH guidelines. Maintaining proper temperature controls and checking expiry dates are essential.
Cooking experience is essential, along with qualifications in food hygiene and safety (Level 2), allergen training, and food handling certification.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing personality, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work as part of a team to produce and serve a varied menu to colleagues and visitors. The role involves food preparation, cooking, serving, cleaning, and vending machine stock management.
