Do you enjoy coaching and developing the skills of others? Are you interested in developing processes by collaborating across teams to ensure transparent and effective environmental regulation?
You will join a water quality-focused regulatory team of specialists, driving strategic change within the water sector, especially concerning storm overflows.
In this role, you will work proactively with Environment Agency teams and external organizations to develop audit processes for water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. You will also be responsible for creating training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), responding to technical queries, and coaching staff on sewerage and water quality investigations.
Our team is dispersed nationwide, and you will collaborate with various water industry regulation and water quality planning teams. Responding to incidents is integral to our work; you may opt to have an incident response role, which could include additional pay and training.
The Team
This position is part of the Water Quality Regulatory Development team within Water Industry Regulation. The team operates across the country, and the successful candidate must be able to work independently while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

Experience and Skills Required
* A relevant degree such as civil engineering or environmental science, with ongoing professional development.
* Experience with sewer modelling and/or river quality impact modelling for UPM studies, including model audits.
* Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies.
* Excellent organizational skills and effectiveness in coaching others.
* Experience in embedding new approaches via collaborative relationships across dispersed teams.
Additional Information
The office base location is flexible; occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.

1. Numerical Modelling and Forecasting: Interpret environmental data and forecast trends, including pollution, flooding, and water availability. Describe sewer and river quality models you've developed, including audit and quality assurance processes.
2. Strategic Environment Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for environmental sustainability. Summarize your experience in applying environmental planning to improve water quality.
3. Coaching Others: Use various methods to develop others' skills. Provide an example of successfully enhancing team capabilities.
4. Shaping Organisational Approach & Delivery: Translate policies into operational activities. Describe a process you developed and embedded at an organizational level.
