Are you motivated by leading technical excellence and shaping new service offerings? Do you want to apply your occupational hygiene expertise to create safer, healthier workplaces? Are you excited by the opportunity to build and grow a service within a global consultancy committed to sustainable change?
If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Health & Safety team as our new Senior Occupational Hygienist and work with us to help close the gap to a sustainable future.
Your new role
As our new Senior Occupational Hygienist, you will play a key role in the development, leadership and delivery of Ramboll’s occupational hygiene services within the UK Compliance, strategy and transactions (CST) Health & Safety team. This is a senior, manager-level position, suited to an established professional who can provide immediate technical leadership while supporting the growth of a new service offering.
You will be part of Ramboll’s Environment & Health division, working closely with colleagues across Health & Safety, Asbestos and wider CST disciplines to deliver integrated risk management solutions. The role offers a balanced mix of technical leadership, client-facing consultancy and project management, alongside a key responsibility for supporting the development and growth of Ramboll’s occupational hygiene service offering.
As a senior consultant, you will provide expert occupational hygiene advice to clients and internal teams, lead and manage projects from scope through to delivery, and act as Ramboll’s Occupational Hygiene technical lead within CST. The role will involve some routine site work, particularly for complex or high-profile assessments, ensuring you remain closely connected to delivery and maintain technical credibility, while also playing a visible leadership role in shaping standards, mentoring colleagues and driving the service forward.
You will work in a collaborative, supportive and multidisciplinary environment, contributing to projects across a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial environments. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are supported, with some travel required for client engagement and site assessments.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Leading the technical delivery and quality assurance of occupational hygiene services across a wide range of exposure risks, including (but not limited to) noise, vibration, airborne contaminants, hazardous substances, indoor air quality and workplace exposure assessments
* Acting as the technical authority for occupational hygiene within CST, providing expert interpretation, advice and assurance to clients and internal teams
* Developing, standardising and continuously improving occupational hygiene methodologies, templates, reporting and QA processes in line with legislation and best practice
* Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with laboratories, equipment suppliers and specialist partners to support high-quality service delivery
* Supporting business development activities, including bids, proposals, client meetings and the development of new service offerings
* Mentoring, coaching and supporting the learning and professional development of other team members
* Contributing to the strategic growth and future expansion of Ramboll’s occupational hygiene service offering
About you
We are looking for an experienced and confident occupational hygienist who is motivated by leadership, technical excellence and service development.
Your starting point for constant growth includes:
* A relevant scientific or technical degree, or equivalent professional experience (BOHS/OHTA qualifications M501, M505, M507 etc)
* Ideally hold the BOHS P405 and have a good understanding of asbestos risk management practices
* Established experience in occupational hygiene, including delivery of exposure assessments and advisory services
* Holding BOHS CertOH or equivalent, with Chartered status or progression toward it desirable
* Strong knowledge of UK occupational health legislation and guidance (e.g. COSHH, Noise, Vibration)
* Proven ability to lead work independently and provide technical oversight to others
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues
What we can offer you
* A flexible work environment
* 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
* Matched pension contributions
* Private medical cover and life assurance
* Commitment to your professional development and career progression
* Leaders guided by Ramboll’s Leadership Principles
