Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Finance Director, to lead all accounting activity for their business, and provide hands-on support to the Directors and finance team.
About the Role:
As Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the financial operations of a successful SME. You'll be reporting directly into the MD and become a core member of the senior leadership team. This is a hands-on, strategic role within the company, offering scope to shape processes and bring financial clarity and control to business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Control
Deliver accurate monthly management accounts and annual statutory financial statements
Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Ensure statutory compliance with VAT, PAYE, and year-end reporting Strategic Leadership & Commercial Insight
Act as a commercial partner to the MD and wider leadership team
Provide insights on revenues, margins, cost efficiencies, and cash flow management
Guide commercial decisions through scenario planning and robust analysis Team & Systems Oversight
Manage a small finance team
Oversee accounting systems, payroll, invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments
Drive improvements and upgrades to financial systems and controls Governance & Risk
Maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks
Manage relationships with external accountants, insurers, and banking partners
Prepare for audits and ensure financial governance standards are met Person Specification
Required:
At least part-qualified or qualified ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
Proven hands-on finance experience, ideally within an SME environment
Practical understanding of accounting systems such as Xero / Sage (or equivalent)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
