Eligibility and requirements
The post requires full registration with the General Medical Council. Out-of-hours commitment applies. All mandatory and statutory training including ATLS must be up to date.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration & licence to practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* Core surgical training or equivalent
* MRCS
* Current ATLS Provider status
* UK Core surgical training programme or 12 months registrar-level Trauma and Orthopaedics experience in a UK Major Trauma Centre or Trauma Unit
* AO Basic Principles of Fracture Management course
* MSc / PhD in related field (optional)
* Evidence of Audit, quality Improvement and Service Development
* Experience at Registrar level at a Major Trauma Centre
* Teaching experience to under- and post-graduate levels
Skills & Knowledge
* Ability to run a Major Trauma take
* Ability to organise and plan a surgical list involving complex injuries
* Ability to lead a on-call/ward team with MDT collaboration
Clinical and teaching expectations
Regular teaching sessions; involvement in teaching medical students and junior colleagues; active in service development, quality improvement and audit with opportunities for publication and presentation.
