JLR currently has an exciting opportunity for a Paint Applications Process Engineer to join their industry-leading engineering and manufacturing team based at their Halewood plant. Reporting to the CME Process Lead Engineer and Engineering Manager, this role is within the Manufacturing Engineering team responsible for all paint processes and application activities on current vehicle programmes. The focus is on supporting and improving production processes and standards to ensure consistent application and quality across phosphate, electro coat, and spray coat systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Support and improve paint application processes and standards including phosphate, e-coat, and spray coat.
2. Apply lean manufacturing principles and ensure control plan adherence.
3. Lead quality problem-solving and data-driven analysis to resolve production issues.
4. Collaborate across departments to share best practices and drive process excellence.
5. Review pFMEAs in line with customer feedback and/or facility changes, and follow through to control mechanisms.
6. Review and adapt paint application parameters through a continuous improvement workflow to deliver outstanding quality to customers.
7. Bring hands-on experience and a quality-first mindset to optimize paint process and application output performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Strong knowledge of paint applications and associated engineering processes such as E-Coat (Electrocoat), Pre-treatment, or Automated Paint application robots.
* Proven experience in manufacturing or engineering environments using lean tools.
* A strong understanding/experience in working with pFMEA, control plans, MSA, and SPC.
* Skilled in data-driven problem solving and process improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in established processes.
