Principal Systems Engineer – Radar Trials & Analysis
Edinburgh HQ (No remote working)
SC Clearance essential
Up to £62 p/h
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to support the ongoing development of an in-service radar system, with a strong focus on trials analysis (rig and flight test data) and system performance verification.
This is a hands-on engineering role working directly with real-world radar trial data, where you’ll be responsible for turning complex datasets into actionable system-level insights.
Key responsibilities
* Analyse large scale datasets from rig and flight trials to assess radar performance against system requirements
* Apply signal processing, image processing, and classification techniques to extract meaningful engineering insight
* Investigate system anomalies using real trial data and support root cause analysis
* Raise and manage System Problem Reports (SPR) for further technical investigation
* Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support development and prototyping of defence capabilities
* Contribute to System Verification & Validation (V&V) activities across the lifecycle
Key skills
* Strong experience using MATLAB for large dataset analysis
* Proven background working within the V-model lifecycle, particularly integration, test, and V&V phases
* Experience in safety-critical engineering environments (e.g. defence, aerospace, or similar regulated industries)
* Familiarity with radar or complex sensor systems is highly desirable
* Comfortable working with real-world experimental data and system level performance issues
