Position Summary
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with supervisory or team manager experience to join the Adult Social Care Countywide Occupational Therapy service in Northumberland. The successful candidate will manage variable OT teams across the county, triage referrals, provide supervision, draft audits, and support strategic planning. The role is full‑time, permanent, and based on the Northumberland County Council Band 11 salary range of £56,233–£60,010.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the day‑to‑day needs of busy OT teams.
* Triage referrals and allocate them to team members or signpost to the appropriate service.
* Provide informal support, regular supervision and appraisal to OT staff.
* Undertake quality audits of routine work and contribute to targeted audit projects.
* Support Senior Managers and the Head of Service with strategic planning and implementing service improvements.
* Evaluate and decide on non‑standard equipment and major/minor adaptation requests, with responsibility for requests up to the designated budget level.
Qualifications and Experience
* A professional Occupational Therapy qualification (Degree – BSc (Hons) or MSc; or Diploma in Occupational Therapy).
* Valid HCPC registration.
* Highly specialised knowledge and expertise in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
* Practice placement qualification and experience of undertaking student placements.
* Significant experience of team management, including appraisal and supervision.
* Extensive experience in adult social or health care for clients with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental health diagnoses.
Additional Requirements
* County‑wide service – holding a valid UK driving licence and having access to a car is essential.
