Offer description

3PL Contract Manager Location: Swindon, Hybrid working With a rich heritage and a new name, TGJones is the fresh face of a much-loved and trusted British brand. Our roots lie in TGJones, where we’ve proudly supported the high street retail estate for generations. Now, under the ownership of specialist retail investors, Modella Capital, we’re entering an exciting new chapter with bold ambitions to become Your Hub of the High Street. About the role Following the sale of the High Street business to Modella and our rebrand to TGJones, we are entering a new phase focused on growth, agility, and disciplined supplier management. The 3PL Contract Manager holds end-to-end accountability for the governance, commercial performance, and strategic development of TGJones’ outsourced logistics and transport partnerships, covering both domestic store replenishment and international imports. This is a stand-alone role responsible for managing our primary logistics service provider (GXO) and associated freight forwarding partners, ensuring contracted services deliver against cost, service, compliance, and continuous improvement commitments. The role is not operationally hands-on; instead it focuses on contract ownership, supplier performance management, risk mitigation, and value optimisation across third-party logistics arrangements. Key Responsibilities 3PL Governance & Contract Management Contract Ownership: Owns the commercial and operational governance of 3PL contracts, ensuring all obligations, SLAs, and KPIs are clearly defined, monitored, and enforced. Performance Management: Leads regular performance reviews with 3PL partners, holding suppliers accountable for service, cost, quality, and compliance outcomes. Issue Resolution & Escalation: Acts as the senior escalation point for service failures, ensuring root causes are addressed and corrective actions embedded. Commercial Control: Maintains visibility of open-book cost models, budgets, and variance drivers, ensuring transparency and value for money. Domestic Store Replenishment (Outsourced) Service Assurance: Ensures store availability is protected through effective governance of replenishment service levels and proactive risk management. Network Reliability: Oversees the resilience and scalability of the contracted transport network, particularly during peak trading and promotional periods. Continuous Improvement: Drives service improvement initiatives with the 3PL, using data-led insights to improve cost, efficiency, and reliability. Strategic Capacity & Cost Planning Capacity Alignment: Works with internal stakeholders and 3PL partners to ensure transport capacity aligns with growth plans, store changes, and seasonal demand. Cost & Efficiency Strategy: Identifies opportunities for cost reduction, network optimisation, and innovation within the contracted model. Sustainability & ESG: Embeds ESG commitments into supplier contracts, including lower-carbon transport solutions and more sustainable operating practices. International Imports & Freight Forwarding End-to-End Import Governance: Owns the performance management of Far East freight flows, ensuring timelines, costs, and compliance requirements are met. Freight Forwarder Management: Manages freight forwarding partners against agreed service and cost KPIs, ensuring smooth inbound flows to the Distribution Centre. Risk & Resilience Planning: Develops contingency plans and alternative sourcing or routing strategies to mitigate risks such as port disruption or rate volatility. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Alignment Internal Collaboration: Acts as the link between Supply Chain, Finance, Merchandising, and Store Operations to ensure logistics contracts support wider business objectives. Influence Without Authority: Drives outcomes through strong supplier relationships and internal stakeholder engagement rather than direct line management. About you Proven experience managing 3PL or logistics service provider contracts within a UK retail environment. Strong background in outsourced transport or logistics governance, rather than in-house fleet management. Demonstrable experience managing KPIs, SLAs, service improvement plans, and contractual reviews. Comfortable working with open-book cost models, budgets, and gainshare mechanisms. Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting MI such as service performance, cost per drop, utilisation, damages, and efficiency metrics. Confident challenging suppliers with data-led insights and driving corrective actions. Experience supporting or leading continuous improvement initiatives with third-party providers. Sound understanding of UK transport compliance and regulatory requirements within a 3PL context. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior supplier leadership teams.
