Main Duties
Successful candidates will engage in learning opportunities in community and higher education settings. Throughout the training, a named supervisor will provide supervision and training. As the course progresses, candidates will act independently with supervision, managing a structured caseload on consolidated practice and delivering a public health service. By the end of the course, candidates will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and competencies of a Community Public Health Practitioner – Health Visitor. They will assess children and families with complex or single‑care needs, implement and evaluate care programmes in partnership with other agencies, and lead teams to deliver high‑quality care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC)
* GCSE mathematics and English
* Minimum 120 credits at degree level or equivalent apprenticeship pathway
Experience
* Working within a skill mix team
* Working on own initiative
* Inter‑agency working
* Nursing experience with families/children in acute or community settings
* Experience with vulnerable children
* Planning and carrying out health promotion programmes
* Knowledge of the Public Health Agenda for 0‑5 years
Skills
* Organising, prioritising and delegating
* Presenting information clearly, written and orally
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills
* IT skills, including use of email, clinical databases, word processing
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
Other Job Requirements
* Ability to travel independently as required by job
* Use of a car or access to mobility to travel across the Trust footprint
