Practitioner psychologist

Sheffield
Forward Leeds
Posted: 10 August
Offer description

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down barriers that prevent people from accessing support to live fulfilling lives. We address poverty and disadvantage through mental health, substance misuse, housing, and related support services.

We operate nearly 200 services across England, supported by approximately 3,500 staff and volunteers, helping around 125,000 people annually.

As we integrate our systems and processes following the merger, some roles still carry the 'Humankind' branding. Full integration of recruitment systems is planned for next year.

Practitioner Psychologist/CBT Therapist/Psychotherapist

Full-time, permanent, 37 hours per week. Located at Portland House, Sheffield, S3 8UG.

About the role

We are seeking passionate Practitioner Psychologists and Psychological Therapists to join our innovative and values-driven organisation. This role offers the chance to influence service delivery, develop your specialist interests, and contribute to systemic change.

As part of our expanding National Psychological Services Team, you'll have the flexibility and support to adapt our services to meet evolving needs. If you want a role where your voice matters and your work makes a real difference, we want to hear from you.

We’re looking for someone extraordinary. Could it be you?

You are community-focused, values-driven, and energized by genuine connection. You see beyond chaos, meeting people where they are, even when life has been toughest and traditional support hasn't worked.

In this role, you’ll bring compassion, creativity, and flexibility to individual work while shaping the bigger picture through clinical supervision, consultation, and reflective practice groups. This is more than a job—it’s a chance to support people as they rebuild and reimagine their lives.

You will make a difference by:

* Driving change through assessment, formulation, and intervention in complex cases, including delivering specialist psychological assessments and trauma-informed interventions.
* Providing cutting-edge care with evidence-based, trauma-responsive interventions addressing substance use and mental health challenges.
* Supporting teams by facilitating reflective practice, team formulations, and psychologically informed approaches.
* Innovating via designing and co-facilitating training, therapeutic groups, and workshops.
* Offering clinical supervision to a multidisciplinary team, fostering growth and resilience.
* Providing clinical leadership and supervision for staff, trainees, and volunteers under a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
* Promoting team culture centered on psychological safety, learning, and mutual support.
* Leading service delivery initiatives, audits, and evaluations to ensure high-quality care.

You will need:

* Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical, Counselling, Forensic, or Health Psychology (BPS accredited) or postgraduate qualification in CBT, Psychotherapy, psychodynamic, or systemic therapy.
* HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist or registration with a PSA-accredited organization (e.g., BACP, UKCP).
* Experience in conducting highly specialist psychological assessments.
* Experience working therapeutically with individuals using drugs and alcohol.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Experience delivering workshops, training, group work, or reflective practice sessions.

For full details, please visit our website.

You will work closely with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and senior colleagues committed to your professional growth. Regular supervision and support aligned with BPS or relevant professional body guidelines will be provided.

Newly qualified practitioners are encouraged to apply. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive team.
