About Our Client
Our client is a successful specialist manufacturing SME with a 90-strong team serving customers in high-reliability sectors including nuclear, defence, and aerospace markets. They specialise in designing and manufacturing detector products for UK and export markets, supporting key international energy, medical, and security activities.
The Role
As a Design and Development Engineer within their engineering team, you will:
1. Provide mechanical engineering expertise supporting operational activities
2. Help meet order book requirements and provide technical support
3. Maximise sales opportunities and enhance customer perception
4. Identify, evaluate, and implement new product development opportunities
5. Interface with customers on both commercial and technical levels
Requirements
* Minimum HNC qualification and/or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline
* Strong background in mechanical engineering, ideally in a relevant field
* Good understanding of materials and mechanical properties, material selection, and testing
* Knowledge of manufacturing and production methods such as general assembly, welding, brazing, and non-destructive testing
* Experience interfacing with customers on commercial and technical levels
* Excellent organisation and communication skills
* Ability to work to schedules and meet deadlines
Location & Hours
Full-time, on-site position in South London (within ULEZ)
* Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM
* Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
* 37.5 hours per week
